What is knowledge management


Knowledge management is the name of a theory where a business consciously and comprehensively gathers, organizes, shares, and analyzes its knowledge concerning resources, files, and people skills. In early 1998, it was considered that few enterprises really had a detailed knowledge management practice in operation. Advances in technology and the way we access and share data have changed that; many enterprises now have some sort of knowledge management framework set up.

Knowledge management involves data mining and a method of operation to drive information to users. A knowledge management plan entails a survey of corporate goals and a close examination of the resources, both conventional and technical, that are needed for addressing the requirements of the company. The challenge of selecting a knowledge management process would be to purchase or construct systems that are suitable for the context of the overall plan and encourages workers to use the program and share information.

 

The aim of a knowledge management system is to provide managers with the ability to organize and locate relevant content and the experience necessary to deal with specific business activities and projects. Some knowledge management software can assess the relationships between content, people, topics and activity and generate a knowledge map report or understanding management dashboard.
